Canfax Research Services administers a variety of Funds for the Beef industry to be used in Research and Development in order to support the Canadian Cattlemen in staying competitive domestically against other meat products and internationally in the beef market. This research is valuable in that it provides information on a wide variety of topics.

Canadian Cattlemen’s Market Development Council

With contributions from the Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta, the CCA established the Canadian Beef and Cattle Market Development Fund. This Fund is to be used to support long-term market development for Canadian beef and beef cattle genetics. The Alberta portion of the fund allows for Alberta-based companies and organizations proposing an innovative marketing initiative utilizing value-added beef products. Canfax Research Services administers the Improved Alignment of the Supply Chain pathway for the National Beef Industry Development Fund (NBIDF). The NBIDF is a $9.25 million dollar investment of the Governments of Canada, British Columbia and Alberta. It is managed and directed by an industry/government committee for the purpose of promoting and enhancing the competitiveness of the beef industry in Canada through funding research and development programs. Four priority areas for research have been identified and form the strategic direction of the NBIDF:
  1. Expanded Market Share and Security
  2. Increased Product Value
  3. Improved Alignment of the Supply Chain
  4. Investment in Knowledge and Education
